Planning

Repair or replace? Start with these questions.

A useful roofing decision begins with the condition of the entire system.

Is the problem isolated, or does it show up in several areas? Localized damage and widespread deterioration call for different conversations. Note the age of the roof, the history of repairs, and when leaks occur.

Ask what a repair can reasonably address. A proposal should identify the affected area and explain any limitations caused by surrounding materials.

When comparing replacement proposals, review the entire scope: removal, decking allowances, underlayment, flashing, ventilation, materials, and disposal. The final price is only one part of the comparison.
